Born and raised in southern Germany, Dominik studied political science in Germany (University of Mannheim), the United Kingdom (University College London), and Switzerland (University of St. Gallen). He holds a PhD in International Affairs and Political Economy from the University of St. Gallen. Prior to joining AAU, Dominik was a Senior Researcher at the Center for Comparative and International Studies at ETH Zürich, Switzerland.
Dominik’s research focuses on the political economy of European integration, particularly the causes and consequences of inequality for understanding Euroscepticism. He frequently analyzes the micro-level foundations of European Politics by investigating public opinion dynamics across EU states. Recently, he also engages with the Political Geography of European Politics. Since 2019, Dominik is principle investigator of the project “Regional Inequality and the Political Geography of Euroscepticism”, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation. He is also currently involved in a project on the urban-rural divide in Europe, funded by the Center for Comparative and International Studies, Zürich.
Dominik has a keen interest in quantitative and mixed-methods research. He will contribute to the teaching at AAU in the areas of methods and European studies. His preferred programming language is R.
Over the recent years, Dominik has published his work in general interest and European Politics journals, such as the Journal of European Public Policy, the Journal of Politics, European Union Politics, the Journal of Common Market Studies, or the European Journal of Political Research.
