This is what Steffen Jensen attempts to explore in this special issue.
Steffen says, ’Human rights protection is often considered in a way that is both too narrow and too broad to provide effective responses to the needs of survivors of torture. Instead, we need to look at protection from the perspective of survivors of torture, rather than formal norms and mechanisms.’ The special issue explores case from around the world related to land activists in the Philippines, mothers trying to save their children from the violence of the Brazilian police and migrants trying to stay safe in Tunis.
