Born and partly educated in Denmark, Charlotte has for the last 15 years mostly lived and worked in Australia. Before moving to Australia, she studied law at Aarhus University. In Australia, Charlotte completed a Master of Policy and Applied Social Research with Macquarie University, Sydney. She holds a PhD with Roskilde University Centre and Macquarie University (cotutelle).
Charlotte has since 2011 mostly been employed at Macquarie University where she has held a number of positions, predominantly teaching-intensive ones, as well as various RA positions.
Charlotte’s research focuses on the meeting points between paid and unpaid work. This research is framed within critical feminist theory and comparative welfare state approaches. In her research, Charlotte uses interviews, observations, surveys, literature studies and legal methods. Within this focus, Charlotte has engaged in research of various groups of workers, including volunteers, migrant care workers and international students. The current project into migrant work in the Danish construction sector fits nicely with previous research projects.
