Can we ‘see’ something that we did not understand before? The MIX conference “Displacement, migration and integration – out of the silo” will address these questions on June 6-7 in Nordkraft, Aalborg.

Martin Bak Jørgensen is a Professor at the Department of Culture and Learning and the MIX steering committee member. He talks about how he gained interest in migration, solidarity cities, continuous solidarity for Ukrainian migrants, and how valuable is a personal experience when it comes to the researchers’ work.

In March, MIX offers you to explore the concept of 'convoluted mobility', undocumented motherhood, and migrant mother smuggling in the Tunisian–Libyan borderlands and trade unions and right-wing populism in Europe through the case study of Denmark. The research papers are conducted by MIX members and are exploring the forums’ core topics of migration, displacement, and integration.

Andrea Borello is a PhD student at the Department of Sociology and Social Work at AAU and a MIX community member. Andrea talks about her recent work around precarious labour migrants in the platform economy where she combines insights from industrial relations and migration literature for a broader understanding of collectivism within the labour markets.

The research group “Junctures of change in the integration of young refugees” invites all interested to the seminar on young refugees’ experience of integration during the paradigm shift in Danish immigration policy. The seminar will be held on 22 February, 14-16 o’clock at the Migration Museum of Denmark in Copenhagen.
