Unique photos at the Department of Politics and Society

A new photo exhibition on campus focuses on small and partially overlooked European peoples. Watch the live introduction online.

The Austrian Embassy in Copenhagen, together with Aalborg University, presents a photo exhibition entitled "The Unknown Europeans". 

The exhibition features images of the following small and partially unknown ethnic groups in Europe: 

  • Aromanians
  • Sephardis
  • Kočevarji
  • Arbëreshë
  • Sorbs
  • Black Sea Germans
  • and Dogevo

The Austrian photographer Kurt Kaindl and the Austrian writer Karl-Markus Gauß took the images of people in everyday life during a journey in 1999. The goal with the exhibition is to arouse the curiosity to learn more about these largely unknown peoples and their cultures in Europe.

Join us Friday 25th of September for an online Zoom-introduction to the exhibition by lecturer Wolfgang Zanck. This text will be updated with a link and exact time, and the link will also be published on Moodle.

The exhibition is on display from 15 September to mid-October 2020 at the Department of Politics and Society, Aalborg University. Due to COVID-19, access to the exhibition is limited to staff and students at the university.
