Talks by the Vice Chancellor and head of center
On the day, Vice Chancellor Per Michael Johansen and head of MIX Kristian Kriegbaum Jensen will talk about the importance of strengthening interdisciplinary research and the potentials for making Aalborg University a Danish hub for research on displacement, migration and integration. Members have a broad range of research interests from ethnographic studies of squatters in South Africa, over human rights law and inter-ethnic marriage patterns to radicalization processes or the educational trajectories of ethnic minorities (to name a few). Moreover, members work with a wide variety of theories and methods. Hence, the potential for forming true inter-disciplinary and groundbreaking research projects is evident.
All researchers at Aalborg University with an interest in displacement, migration and integration can join MIX. The center provides the infrastructure necessary for new collaborations to form bottom-up. By facilitating knowledge sharing and the formation of strong internal and external networks, MIX seeks to deliver new inter-disciplinary research projects that push the boundaries of research on displacement, migration and integration processes and contribute to enlighten the broader public. This is never easy to accomplish but MIX is unique in the diversity of researchers that it brings together. The work has already begun and soon we will see the first results of our efforts.
