On 1st October 2023, Laust Lund Elbek started as Postdoc at the Department of Politics and Society. He will be associated with the Intimacies of Policing project led by Anja Kublitz.
Laust hold a PhD in social anthropology from Aarhus University (2020), and for the past three years, he have been employed at the Department of Political Science, SDU. His doctoral research was based on long-term ethnographic fieldwork on the Italian island of Lampedusa and investigated local state-citizen relationships in the light of the ‘refugee crisis’ and the militarization of Europe’s Mediterranean borderlands.
More recently, he have been working ethnographically with the so-called ‘proximity reform’ of Danish police and the links between policing, migration policy, and penal nationalism/populism.
