The PhD dissertation Commodifying the Nordic Welfare State in the Age of Cognitive Capitalism: The Journey of Nordic childcare know-how to China analyses so-called ‘welfare export’ through the case study of Nordic childcare know-how to China in contemporary global capitalism. Drawing on the post-workerist theory, this dissertation analyses the production of knowledge, the commodification of knowledge and the demand for knowledge on childcare, as it moves from the Nordic region to China. The analysis on ‘welfare export’ of Nordic childcare know-how, contributes with new empirical as well as theoretical knowledge on the re-composition of the welfare state in contemporary cognitive capitalism.
