As of 1 October 2019, I am enrolled as a PhD Fellow at AAU in the Department of Politics and Society funded by The Danish Council for Independent Research and AAU. I graduated from Aalborg University in June 2018 with a Master’s degree in History, and for the last year, I worked as a curator at a Danish museum.

My project is affiliated with the research project ‘Living on the Edge. Risk, Resources, Resilience and Relocations in the Western Limfjord, ca. 1750-1900’. The aim of my project is to explore how small societies living by the coast react on extreme weather and natural disasters with the focus on the human respond. The project will draw on several theories from the field of environmental history. Within this research field, there is a strong interdisciplinary approach, bridging the knowledge and research found in natural as well as human sciences. By bringing the natural sciences into account, the historical records will be used in way, which they never have been before. In doing so, I hope to contribute with a new understanding of coastal societies in the 18th and 19th century and add some much-needed depth in the question of how coastal societies react on natural disaster.
